Using wireless hotspots
Wireless (WiFi) hotspots are places - such as cafes, airports and libraries - where you can connect your wireless enabled laptop to an Internet connection. This means you can get web-based email and Internet service at that location.
What can you do at a Telecom wireless hotspot?
Get online at broadband speeds - you can access the Internet at high speed, surf the web, conduct research, download and upload files - everything you can do from the Internet at your desk.
Send and receive email - with our wireless hotspot service you can send and receive web-based email.
Access your company Intranet and email - if your business already provides Internet-based access to your company's intranet and email you can access these services at our wireless hotspots (talk to your IT administrator if you're not sure). We recommend a virtual private office solution for security reasons.
How do I connect?
All you need to connect to the Internet at a Telecom wireless hotspot is a WiFi enabled device. Many laptops and PDAs now come WiFi enabled (e.g. a Centrino chipset) however if your laptop isn't WiFi enabled you can buy a wireless laptop card. You'll then need to install and configure any necessary software on your laptop. To logon at a Telecom wireless hotspot, you can buy a Telecom Wireless pre-paid card and enter its number, or simply enter your credit card details.
How do I find a Telecom wireless hotspot?
There are plenty of them, so they're not hard to find. Just look for the Telecom wireless hotspot sign, or check our convenient wireless hotspot finder.
