Congratulations you are currently experiencing the performance of ADSL2+

How does it work?

ADSL2+ works the same way as a standard ADSL broadband service: it delivers a fast Internet connection over your phone line.

What's different is that ADSL2+ can enhance broadband performance - much like a software upgrade can enhance the performance of your computer's operating system.

As a Telecom Broadband customer you should benefit from increased Internet performance if you:
  1. Live within two kilometres of a Telecom ADSL2+ enabled exchange or new Telecom roadside cabinet.
  2. Use an ADSL2+ enabled modem (Telecom has been providing these to all new customers since October 2007).
  3. Are using an ADSL2+ capable plan which means the plan's download and upload speeds are optimised for this technology.

How fast is it?

Broadband performance and Internet speeds will always vary and are not only dependent on your location, but also on the type of modem you have and the broadband plan you're on. The wiring in your house and your computer configuration can also affect broadband speed.

In theory, ADSL2+ offers maximum download speeds of up to 24Mbps and maximum upload speeds of up to 1.0Mbps.

In reality though, like any standard ADSL broadband service, the 'up to' speeds are the maximum possible speeds and actual speeds will vary for a number of reasons. Check out our page on broadband speed for more information on this.

To make the most of an ADSL2+ connection, you'll need to choose one of our broadband plans that is ADSL2+ capable.
