Moving - what you need to do

Let us know your new address by completing this online form or calling 126.

  • Give us as much notice as you can - at least three days - so we can make sure we connect your business on time. This may include us sending a technician to visit your business to check we've set up everything and that it is working as it should. Please allow two to three weeks if you need Xtra Business Broadband connected

  • You'll need to give us the street address for your business premises or the name of the business that was there before yours

  • If you need to move or install more complex services, such as data, ISDN or Centrex, you'll need to talk it though with a member of our business service team on 126

Moving made easy - useful tips

There's no need to be out of touch whether you're moving your business across town or across the country.

  • CustomerLink is a good choice if you're moving across town or across country and can't take your current phone number with you. Calls to your old number will be permanently diverted to your new one

  • Let customers know you've moved with a recorded message on InfoAnswer, and update it daily. You can also text your new details to everyone at the same time using etxt

  • Plan ahead. Divert your calls to a pager or mobile or use an 0800 number to make it easy for customers to call you

  • Turn your home phone into your business line with call divider so when you have to work from home you never miss a call and your calling is charged back to your business

Keeping in touch during your move

  • Use a messaging service like Call Minder to answer your calls access through the internet remotely via WiFi

  • Access your email remotely, online or through your mobile phone with Xtra email

  • Pick up messages on a landline from your mobile anywhere in the country using message alerts

Moving from overseas

You will need a New Zealand-based business address before you can apply for a business line. Once you have your street address, you can either join online or email our business service team on business@telecom.co.nz
