Telecom's technology can help reduce the environmental impacts of its travel demands as well as those if its customers. The introduction of the Video Conferencing technology facilitates cheaper and more frequent contact nationally and internationally between work colleague and clients.
Telecom's technology has reduced the environmental impacts of our travel demands as well as those of our customers. The use of Telecom's video conferencing has generally increased each year. However, we experienced a 3% overall decrease in video conference use from 2008 to 2009. This included a 1% decrease in Telecom's use of its video conference facilities and an 18% reduction in external organisations using the conferencing facilities. The overall year on year growth between 2004 and 2009 was 19%. The slight decline in the use of video conferencing is also accompanied by a decline the amount of time spent on a video conference. The results are shown in the graphs below.
However, in contrast to the small decline in the use of our facilities, this year has been the most successful year for our video conferencing (VC) solutions. Our customers purchased $4M worth of VC solutions to reduce their travel. This number is expected to increase in the current economic climate.
