Palm Treo instructions
Manual set up of APN and Connection to Internet:
- Start
- Settings
- Connections tab
- Connections icon on screen
- Select "Add a new modem connection"
- Enter a generic name you will recognise as your connection e.g. TNZ Roaming
- In "Select a Modem", scroll to "Cellular line (GPRS, 3G) and press "Next"
- Enter the Access Point Name (APN) for Telecom Roaming SIM in the APN field "internet.telecom.co.nz" and select "Next"
- Leave User Name, Password and Domain field blank
- Select "Finish"
- In Connection, select "Manage existing connections"
- Press and hold stylus on "New Connection"
- Select "Connect" option
- Message will display on screen saying "Connecting to TNZ Roaming, Connecting to GPRS, 3G"
- Successful connection is achieved at this point
Change Network Selection:
- Menu
- Preferences
- Phone Settings
- Network tab
- Select drop down arrow under the "Network Section" tab
- Select "Manual". System will seek out available networks
- Once a range of networks displays, select your preferred Network and press "OK"
To Change Band/Frequency Selection:
- Settings
- Phone Services
- Hold stylus down on "Band Selection". Little round circles will display
- Under the "Network type" leave setting as "Auto"
- Select "GSM (900+1800) + (UMTS (2100 +850) for 3G" and press "OK"
- System will search for available networks in that band
- Now return to the "Network" tab, select Manual and choose preferred Network of your choice e.g. Optus 3G
- A symbol such as "U" or "3G" will display on the top tool bar confirming connectivity to a 3G Network
- Select Start, Today to return to main menu
