Palm Treo instructions

 

Manual set up of APN and Connection to Internet:

  1. Start
  2. Settings
  3. Connections tab
  4. Connections icon on screen
  5. Select "Add a new modem connection"
  6. Enter a generic name you will recognise as your connection e.g. TNZ Roaming
  7. In "Select a Modem", scroll to "Cellular line (GPRS, 3G) and press "Next"
  8. Enter the Access Point Name (APN) for Telecom Roaming SIM in the APN field "internet.telecom.co.nz" and select "Next"
  9. Leave User Name, Password and Domain field blank
  10. Select "Finish"
  11. In Connection, select "Manage existing connections"
  12. Press and hold stylus on "New Connection"
  13. Select "Connect" option
  14. Message will display on screen saying "Connecting to TNZ Roaming, Connecting to GPRS, 3G"
  15. Successful connection is achieved at this point

Change Network Selection:

  1. Menu
  2. Preferences
  3. Phone Settings
  4. Network tab
  5. Select drop down arrow under the "Network Section" tab
  6. Select "Manual". System will seek out available networks
  7. Once a range of networks displays, select your preferred Network and press "OK"

To Change Band/Frequency Selection:

  1. Settings
  2. Phone Services
  3. Hold stylus down on "Band Selection". Little round circles will display
  4. Under the "Network type" leave setting as "Auto"
  5. Select "GSM (900+1800) + (UMTS (2100 +850) for 3G" and press "OK"
  6. System will search for available networks in that band
  7. Now return to the "Network" tab, select Manual and choose preferred Network of your choice e.g. Optus 3G
  8. A symbol such as "U" or "3G" will display on the top tool bar confirming connectivity to a 3G Network
  9. Select Start, Today to return to main menu
