What you'll get to do

Telecom will make sure you get the right practical experience to qualify as a Chartered Accountant. We're an Approved Training Organisation (ATO) and committed to providing graduates with the opportunities necessary to get into the College of Chartered Accountants.

We do this by providing the necessary training, support and coaching to successfully complete and pass the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants (NZICA) requirements (Foundations, PAS and PCE2). Once you're qualified, you'll be offered a position within Telecom.

Six training areas

"What I find really amazing is how enjoyable work can be."

Telecom offers six of the seven training areas set out by the NZICA:

  1. Accounting information systems
  2. Auditing
  3. External reporting
  4. Financial management
  5. Management accounting
  6. Taxation

Over three years we'll rotate you through a series of roles to make sure you get a depth of experience in one area, and a broad range of experience in two other areas.

Diverse roles for graduates

There is incredible diversity across the accounting roles offered at Telecom. Our 2010 graduates are working across five different business units - Retail, Gen-i, Wholesale, TT&SS and Corporate - in a variety of financial and management accounting roles. They're supporting the mobile business, client delivery and professional service areas, IT and operations areas, revenue assurance, corporate finance and financial control of the business units.

  • Allocation of an NZICA-approved mentor
