Toll Bar

What is it?

A Toll Bar ensures that chargeable calls cannot be made from your phone.

top

How does it work?

Permanent Toll Bars block outgoing calls only (incoming Transfer Charge and Collect Calls are not affected).

All Toll Bars allow 111, Telecom service numbers, 0800 and Calling Card calls to be made.

International and National Calls can only be made by Collect, Transfer Charge, Calling Card or Credit Card.

There are four different types:

  • Standard Toll Bar
  • Toll Bar with directory access
  • International Toll Bar
  • Local Call Bar - blocks all chargeable calls except local calls.

    No additional equipment is required.

    Things you should know

Each line can only have one type of Toll Bar or Call Restriction. Some features of Smartphone services (such as Call Diversion) are not compatible with Toll Bars.

Subject to any applicable minimum terms*, Telecom requires 30 days notice of cancellation of this Smartphone service. This means the usual charges will continue to apply for 30 days after the date you cancel your service, even if it is disconnected within that period. (There will be some exceptions). For some existing customers, as separately advised, this requirement applies from 1 January 2004.

*Where you have agreed to take this Smartphone service for a minimum period, charges for this service will continue to apply until the end of that period.
