Call Waiting
Delivers the flexibility to answer an important call even when you're already on the phone.
When you're on the phone to one caller, it can be useful to know when someone else is trying to get through.
How Call Waiting works
When you are on a call, four beeps will
tell you someone else is trying to get through. You can:
- Finish the call you're on and hang
up - the phone will ring with the second call
- Switch between the calls by pressing
the 'recall' button. (Ask the original caller if it's okay to put them on
hold and check the other call)
- Ignore the beeps and the second
caller will assume there is no reply
All you need to get Call Waiting is a touchtone phone.
If you combine Call Waiting with Call Minder, callers will be put through to your
recorded message.
Use your Call Minder greeting to explain
you might already be on a call and not necessarily away from the phone.
FaxAbility is
probably a better option for you if your phone and fax operate on the same
line, or if you use the phone line to receive data calls via a modem.
How much?
$3.51 per month (excluding GST).
Things you should know
Call Waiting requires a touchtone phone and is available in most areas. Telecom requires 30 days notice of cancellation of this Smartphone service. This means the usual charges will continue to apply for 30 days after the date you cancel your service, even if it is disconnected within that period. (There will be some exceptions). For some existing customers, as separately advised, this requirement applies from 1 January 2004. Where you have agreed to take this Smartphone service for a minimum period, charges for this service will continue to apply until the end of that period.
