One line, separate numbers - ensures you receive calls and faxes without a hitch.
FaxAbility is an easy and cost-effective way to receive and send faxes using just one phone line. A different ringing tone lets you know when it's a fax and not a phone call, so you don't interrupt transmission by answering a fax call.
How FaxAbility works
We provide you with a separate number for your fax machine. Your fax recognises the ring and accepts the fax message. You can set your machine to receive only fax calls if you prefer.
FaxAbility requires a compatible fax machine, such as our Telecom Home Fax. Decoders are available at major retailers if your machine is not compatible.
FaxAbility works well with Call Minder - your phone can take messages if your line is busy receiving a fax.
If you have Call Waiting, use 'Suspend Call Waiting' when you send a fax to avoid possible corruption if a call comes through.

Things you should know
To get FaxAbility installed you need an existing Telecom Business Line.
The usual local, national and international charges apply for all outgoing calls. You cannot make a phone call and send a fax at the same time.
FaxAbility is not available in all areas and is incompatible with Call Divider.
Telecom requires 30 days notice of cancellation of FaxAbility. This means the usual charges will continue to apply for 30 days after the date you cancel your service, even if it is disconnected within that period (there will be some exceptions). For some existing customers, as separately advised, this requirement applies from 1 January 2004. Where you have agreed to take Call Divider for a minimum period, charges for this service will continue to apply until the end of that period.
