Xtra Mobile Internet on your CDMA Mobile

You can do much more than make calls and send text messages with a Telecom CDMA WAP (internet) capable mobile.

Using the WAP menu on your mobile you can access Xtra Mobile Internet Services to send and receive Xtra email, access the Internet, download ringtones and wallpapers, play games, see the latest news stories and much more.

How do I get it?

How do I get it?

It's easy. Just open the WAP browser on your Telecom CDMA mobile and scroll through the menus to get the service you want.

If you have a CDMA Smartphone then you don't have access to the WAP menu to access Xtra Mobile Internet Services, as your mobile will access the internet directly. CDMA Smartphone's include all CDMA BlackBerrys, and CDMA Windows Mobile® operating devices.

The price of Mobile Internet on my CDMA mobile is ...

It's free to browse the Xtra WAP menus on your CDMA mobile. You only start paying when you leave those menus and begin to use services such as email or the internet, or enter an application, such as a WAP game.

On CDMA WAP capable mobiles:

  • All content outside the Xtra WAP menu will cost 1c per KB
  • All WAP Chat services are individually priced. Pricing is communicated within each service
  • Some services, like downloading ringtones or sending Picture Messages have differing costs. When this happens you will get a message on your mobile telling you how much they cost so you can choose to continue before downloading or sending them

CDMA Smartphones are charged according to the mobile broadband plan that you are on, or if you haven't chosen a specific plan, then the casual mobile broadband rate of $9.20 per MB is charged for all mobile data you access (mobile data used is rounded up to the nearest 10KB packet for billing).

CDMA Network closure

Next year on 31 July 2012 we're closing the CDMA Mobile Network and over the next year we're committed to ensuring a smooth and easy transition for CDMA customers to the XT network. Over 1 million Kiwis are already enjoying it! But it does mean that if you have a mobile that is currently connected to the old CDMA Network, it'll no longer work after this date.

If you are a CDMA Prepaid, Postpaid or One Bill customer upgrade to XT online and you will be eligible for an exclusive deal.

By the way, just so you know

You must maintain a positive credit balance in order to use our CDMA mobile data services.

The CDMA Mobile Terms and Conditions apply and if you use data, the Mobile Broadband and our nationwide mobile data network terms and conditions also apply.
