Fair Use Policy

The Fair Use Policy is referenced against average residential customer profiles and estimated residential customer use of a service. If your use materially exceeds these use patterns over any month, then your use will be deemed excessive and/or unreasonable. As examples the following uses would be considered to breach this policy – business use, automated call messaging, monitoring services, broadcast fax or outbound call centres. If you breach this policy Telecom may ask you to moderate your usage. If you fail to do so, Telecom reserves the right, without further notice, to charge you for the excessive element of your usage and/or remove the service from your account.

  1. Telecom standard broadband terms and conditions apply.
  2. If Telecom Broadband is not available in your area we will be unable to provide you with a Telecom Home Connectivity Package, instead we will connect you to a Telecom Home Phone Plan.

  4. With Telecom Home Connectivity Packages you have the option to choose what happens when you exceed your data allowance.  The default option is additional data.  This means you will be charged an additional charge for any data you use in excess of your monthly data allowance:
    • If you have selected the additional data option, once you have reached your monthly data allowance each additional gigabyte (GB) for that billing month will cost you $1 per gigabyte (GB) if you have the 15GB, 30GB or 50GB data allowance and $0.50 per gigabyte (GB) if you have 150 GB plan or 500GB plan. This will be charged at a per megabyte (MB) rate.
    • If you have selected reduced speed option and you reach your monthly allowance your connection will be slowed to a maximum of dial-up speeds (64kbps max) at no extra cost until your new billing month starts.
