Prepaid pricing

We've kept things simple with our Pay As You Go pricing - there's only one rate for calling and TXTing, no matter what network your friends are on: just 20c per TXT, and 69c per minute (or part minute, also known as 'minute plus minute' pricing) for voice calls.

International calling rates

Direct-dial any landline or mobile in Australia, United States, Canada, United Kingdom and Ireland and pay 91c per minute. 

Direct-dial any landline or mobile in the rest of the world for $1.43 per minute.

Extras

You can add Extras to your Prepaid mobile, so you get just the right fit and only pay for what you need. There are singular Extras and there are new bundles called Value Packs.

Talk

For each My Favourite you just nominate a Telecom mobile or landline number and then you get to call it as often as you like, within a fair usage amount.

With a Talk Value Pack you get 40 any network, anytime mins for $20 to use up in a 90 day period.

If you use up the minutes included in your Talk Value Pack then you revert to the standard per minute rate for your particular Prepaid plan.

Text

Choose either a bundle of 150 or 2500 TXTs that you can send to people on any mobile network in New Zealand each month. If you use up the TXTs included in your Text Extra then each TXT you send after that will cost 20c.

Data

Keep connected and access your email and the Internet on your mobile with bundles of 50MB, 150MB or 300MB of data. 

Or, if you need voice and text as well, sign-up for the TalkTextData Valuepack where you get 20 minutes, 1000 texts and 200MB per month for $20.

If you use up the data allowance of your Data Extra in the month then you will revert back to the casual data rate of $1 a day for up to 10MB and $1 for each additional megabyte in the same day.

For even greater data needs we also have larger Prepaid Mobile Broadband plans available, which can be used for Internet on your mobile or for wireless surfing using a USB modem on your laptop.

It's easy to try the Internet on your mobile before you take up a Data Extra, as all XT mobiles automatically have access to the casual data rate of $1 a day for up to 10MB and $1 for each additional megabyte in the same day. And you'll only be charged on the days you use data.

We've recently made some changes to Prepaid Extras...

In late June we made some changes to our Prepaid Text and Data Extras, how they work, how you purchase them and how you're charged for them. We also have a new way you can manage your Extras and things like topping up.

If you've never purchased a Prepaid Extra before then you're probably unaffected by these changes, and all the info you need is above, but if you do have a Prepaid Extra you may want to learn more here.

What else you should know...

Our included TXTs and Extras are for national person-to-person TXTs and don't include international TXTs or TXTs sent while roaming.  

Our included data and Extras are for data used in New Zealand and don't include data used while you're outside New Zealand. To get the price of data for your international destinations, use our Global Roaming Quick Check tool.

Photo messages cost 20c per message to any Telecom or XT Network mobile, and 50c to any other network mobile, in New Zealand.

Accessing your voicemail is 20c per call.
