You just need a T-Stick
To get started with XT Mobile Broadband all you need to do is purchase a T-Stick - a USB modem that you insert into the USB slot on your laptop or PC - or a datacard from us and to choose a data pricing option. These devices hold a SIM card which will connect you to the mobile network and are "plug and play", meaning you don't need to do anything to set up your connection. It's ready to go right out of the box.
What's more some of the T-Sticks we sell can also hold a MicroSD card (available from any Telecom Retail Store), so they can also double as a handy portable storage device.
How much data you might need
We know it can be tricky to estimate how much data you might need in your plan, so to give you an approximate idea here are some of the things you can do with 1 GB of data:
- Browse 8,000 pages on Yahoo!Xtra, Facebook, Trademe, or
- Instant Message for over 800 hours, or
- Watch over 3 hours of YouTube clips, or
- Download 125 to 300 MP3s, or
- Make 10,000 Yahoo!Xtra web searches

Our new XT Mobile Network supports average speeds of 3Mbps downlink and 750Kbps uplink. Of course the Mobile Broadband speeds you receive on your device will vary depending on things like the number of users on the network, coverage and environmental conditions, your device's capability and the applications and activities you're using it for.
