Number Withhold

Don't let the person you're calling see your number.

If you call someone and they have a service like Caller Display, that person will be able to see your number before they pick up the phone. If you don't want them to do that for any reason, then you can use Number Withhold to stop the number being displayed. What’s more, it's free.

How do I get Number Withhold?

Your can order Number Withhold online, or give us a call on 123.

Rather keep your number to yourself?

With Number Withhold, the person you call will see a message like 'Caller ID blocked'.

How you use Number Withhold is up to you.  You can either use it:

  • Per Call - by dialling 0197 before you dial a number (197 if the number you are calling from has a toll bar).  This only works for that call, but anyone can do this at any time.
  • Automatic - your number is withheld automatically on all your calls.  You will need to let us know if you would like this service.  But you can override this if you want to on any call by dialling - 0196 (or 196 if the number you are calling from has a toll bar) before the number.

What else you should know...

Even if you use Number Withhold, your number will be displayed to 111 emergency services and our operators.
Telecom requires 30 days' notice of cancellation of this Smartphone service.
Please note that in some cases this service may not be available or is limited due to network constraints and incompatibility with other products and services.
